Custom plates
Every racer at the 2010 Back 40 will get a custom number plate. So leave that MCA plate at home. This number 1 plate is ON HOLD for defending champ, “Rocket Ron Kaulins”. You’re going to have to go pretty fast to dethrone the Rocket.
Alter 8 Entry
Shawn Z., the organizer of the Alter 8, 8 hour race that goes down on August 15th at Birch, has donated a Free Entry to the Alter 8 as a prize for the Back 40. Shawn does a great job organizing the Alter 8, and always sets up a FUN course and good prizes, with a fun atmosphere. You do have to have an MCA license to race at the Alter 8. Back 40 – July 4th
We finally have our approvals in place and the new date is July 4th. All other details remain the same. Now cancel any other plans and register if you haven’t already.
It’s coming, sooner or later
We have chosen a new date for the Back 40 – but first, John Loewen must get the necessary approvals from Morden and the RCMPs. We will make it official once we have those approvals. But it is not the rumored June 20th date. Sorry for the delays.
Back 40 – Update coming
We are trying to have the race sooner, rather than later. But it is entirely in the hands of mother nature and the reality of the existing MCA MTB schedule. We will try to have a new status update on the Back 40 this Thursday, June 10th. Sorry for the delays – it sucks to delay things, but we need the rain to stop.
Back 40 Postponed
Postponed due to wet trail conditions
Unfortunately the weather has not worked out well leading up to this year’s Back 40. The lake trail was already in wet condition this spring and is now extremely wet with sections under water. The trails will not be ready by June 6th, so we are going to have to reschedule. We will be looking for a new date this week and will update the Back 40 site when ready.
Thanks to all the racers who have registered online, we greatly appreciate your support and understanding with this difficult decision. We will try to give you plenty or warning about the new date to ensure you can still make it to the race.
We are as disappointed as you are.
80 km Category Shirts
As promised, custom Back 40 shirt, just for the 80 pre-registered racers. Tim wants 6 of em for himself – that’s 30 laps… I don’t think he’s got the legs.

So, I’m eating some post race veggies provided by the always generous Penny Seier at the Brandon Cup race on the weekend and I casually ask, “Wanna help sponsor the Back 40?”
Big thanks to Penny and Paul Seier, owners of P&P Automotive Repair in Winnipeg. They are helping out with some Draw Prizes at the Back 40. These are some of the nicest people you will ever meet anywhere. Paul is a bundle of positive energy, Penny is always feeding half the racers after most races and both have raced the first two Back 40 races. So when you’re at the Back 40 this year, remember to say thanks to Paul and Penny for supporting racing in Manitoba (or better yet, give them some of your business).
