Here are the 2010 Back 40 Results.
Back 40 Recap
It’s official, Greg Sherwin is fast (80 km winner). Cat has great timing and did the full 80km (right on). Trail conditions were really good. New racers want to know their time even more than experienced racers. Pizza seems like far less work than BBQs and farmer’s sausage. Lincoln and Ramona ran the entire kids zone area, even the big kids were having fun there (Luc). I will let the 2010 Butter Belt winner spread that news himself, 80km earns him the right.
More post race info will come in the coming days, once some photos come etc. Thanks to those who supported the race.
NOTE: if you have any photos from the Back 40 and don’t mind us putting them on our blog/website, please email them to me in a small file format, with the email being no more than about 5 mb. kevinb(at)elementbdesign.com
Conditions Very Good
The trail got marked today, man it was HOT and humid. There was a shower early in the AM, but hot and sunny all day have the trails in good condition right now. Few small wet spots with a bit of mud, but overall, very good. The local boys from TCC have put in countless hours mowing the course this week. It should be a great day for a race tomorrow.
Don’t forget, the beach is very close by, you may wanna bring a towel and jump in the lake after the race. (No birthday suits though.)
Looks like the forecast is also on our side, cooler than today and MUCH less humidity, that’s good, but don’t forget to bring plenty of liquids to stay hydrated. There will be a water station on the course about half way through for refilling bottles while racing.
Remember 5 lap race is at 10 am and the others start at 1 pm. See you all tomorrow.

Did someone say butter?
If you don’t know what this is, don’t worry, it doesn’t apply to you. Those that do know, the battle is ON.
Custom plates
Every racer at the 2010 Back 40 will get a custom number plate. So leave that MCA plate at home. This number 1 plate is ON HOLD for defending champ, “Rocket Ron Kaulins”. You’re going to have to go pretty fast to dethrone the Rocket.
Alter 8 Entry
Shawn Z., the organizer of the Alter 8, 8 hour race that goes down on August 15th at Birch, has donated a Free Entry to the Alter 8 as a prize for the Back 40. Shawn does a great job organizing the Alter 8, and always sets up a FUN course and good prizes, with a fun atmosphere. You do have to have an MCA license to race at the Alter 8. Check out there web site.
In Back 40 News
Let’s hope Morden don’t get all the rain that is forecast and next week is very dry.
Back 40 – July 4th
We finally have our approvals in place and the new date is July 4th. All other details remain the same. Now cancel any other plans and register if you haven’t already.
It’s coming, sooner or later
We have chosen a new date for the Back 40 – but first, John Loewen must get the necessary approvals from Morden and the RCMPs. We will make it official once we have those approvals. But it is not the rumored June 20th date. Sorry for the delays.
